Concussion Evaluation
What It Is
Concussion/Sports concussion is a complex pathophysiological process affecting the brain. A concussion may be caused a direct blow to the head, neck, face, or elsewhere on the body with an impulsive force. Concussion/ Sports concussion typically results in short-lived impairments of neurological functioning. Concussion should be suspected in the presence of headache, loss of consciousness, or memory problems. Any individual/athlete with a suspected concussion should be monitored prior to resuming active play or sports.

When It’s Needed
While most symptoms will resolve in 1-3 weeks, some individuals continue to experience symptoms after this recovery period. This is referred to as Post-Concussive Syndrome. We can assist in managing the symptoms. In some cases, a Return to Learn plan will need to be established.
